When Life Doesn’t Go as Planned: Finding the Blessing in Disguise
Life has a funny way of teaching us lessons when we least expect them. Sometimes things don’t go our way — the plans we thought were solid fall apart, doors we prayed would open slam shut, and dreams we held onto start to fade into the distance. It can feel unfair, confusing, even painful in the moment. But what I’ve learned through my own ups and downs is that there’s always a reason — even if we can’t see it yet.
Not every detour is a dead end; sometimes it’s divine direction. God has a way of protecting us from things we don’t even realize could harm us, and redirecting us toward something better — something we didn’t even know we needed. It’s hard to understand when you’re in the middle of the storm, but later, when the clouds clear, you start to see how it all connected.
Maybe that missed opportunity wasn’t a loss, but a lesson. Maybe that heartbreak was a push to rediscover your own strength. Maybe that setback was really a setup for your greatest comeback. Every delay, every disappointment, and every unexpected turn is a piece of a much bigger plan — one that’s guided by grace, even when it doesn’t feel like it.
So if you’re walking through a season that doesn’t make sense, hold on. Trust that God is still working behind the scenes. His timing is perfect, and His plans are always greater than ours. Sometimes what feels like a loss is really a blessing in disguise — and one day, you’ll look back and see how it all had to happen exactly the way it did.

Amen and amen, sometimes the big blessings are unanswered prayers. Sometimes we get to caught up in the give me give me give me Daddy God…instead of thanking him and looking around at all the blessings he had already blessed us with. Back to the basics of life, we are just traveling through this short journey called life, we must make the most of it and start dwelling on kingdom things, those are the things that will matter most and last an eternity. Love you Soulshine, great blog and much needed!!
